K. J. Sweeney went to work drilling wells at the age of 16 for his Uncle Frank and Aunt Sally Acker in 1944. After a stint in the army, he was drilling for B.J. Larke for a time and went out on his own in 1952 with his wife Theresa. At that time, he did a lot of drilling in Hales Corners, Greenfield, Franklin, Cudahy, South Milwaukee and OakCreek. Most of Franklin, Muskego, New Berlin and surrounding areas were very rural. At one time, he finished a well in South Milwaukee, set his test pump and walked 3 blocks down to the Bucyrus Erie plant and ordered his first new rig - a 20W Bucyrus Erie that we still have today.
K. R. Sweeney took over the business in 1990. Soon after that he purchased his first rotary with his wife Cheryl - a 2400R Bucyrus Erie set up with a casing hammer. Today we run an Atlas Copco TH60 with a casing hammer and still do some limited cable tool drilling. In addition to drilling, we also do our own pump work. This includes new installations, servicing existing wells, pumps, and tanks, and well abandonments.
